Study Guide for Quiz 3

CS 265/571 Advanced Programming Tools and Techniques
Instructors: Jeremy Johnson and Kurt Schmidt;
Exam date: (In class on Tue. Feb. 22 for CS 571 and CS 265 sec. 501/701 - Wed. Feb. 23 for other CS 265 sections)


Students are responsible for material in the lecture notes (lectures 5 - 6). The quiz will cover material in chapters 3 and 4 of the text in addition to assignment 2. If you are having difficulty understanding the code in the slides, example programs, or text, please consult with the instructors and/or TAs.

Particular topics to be covered are:
  1. One question from assignment 2 (make sure you understand all of the problems)
  2. Design and implementation choices/tradeoffs for the Markov program.
  3. Interface design decisions and issues.

Exam Rules

  1. The exam will last 50 minutes
  2. Students may bring a copy of the lecture notes for lectures 4, 5 and 6. (including notes on perl and C, and interface to the class methods from STL) No other materials are permitted.

Review Session

There will not be an official review session due to the holiday on Monday Feb. 21; however, there will be additional office hours on Friday. Feb. 18 from 2-3:30. Dr. Johnson also has office hours on Tuesday from 4-6.
