Abstract:

Several factors have come together to create an environment in which the development of a Computer-Assisted Instruction approach to C programming using the World-Wide Web is both feasible and beneficial. This paper presents a project to develop such a C tutorial. The implementation techniques center around the use of Lex to scan answers to questions. While the system has been in use only one semester, our limited experience with it suggests that this approach has the potential for improving the teaching of C.
