A version of Eclipse with ACL2s is install on the CS department servers, tux.cs.drexel.edu. You can connect to them and run acl2s-eclipse remotely. To do so, you need to make sure your computer has all the correct software installed. Since Eclipse is a GUI application, it needs a window management system to send the user interface from the remote server. The window management system that is used for this is called X11.
To connect to tux and run eclipse remotely, you need to install both cygwin with X11 and a secure shell client. The instructions for downloading and installing cygwin with X11 can be found at http://x.cygwin.com. You can download a secure shell client from https://software.drexel.edu. Log in with you one.drexel.edu username and navigate to students/PCsoftware/SSH then download and install SSHSecureS.exe.
Once you have everything installed, open SSH Secure Shell. In the preferences, in the tunneling section, make sure that X11 tunneling is checked.
Create a new connection to tux.cs.drexel.edu and log in using your account. Once you are logged in, type acl2s-eclipse at the command line.
First, you need to install the X11 window manager for your Mac. You can download it for free from http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/. Once it is installed, you can open a terminal and follow the same instructions as Linux users, found below.
Open a terminal and connect to tux using ssh. Use the -X flag to enable ssh forwarding. Once you are logged in, just type acl2s-eclipse to start up a session. Here is a example, my username is mwb33, so replace that with your tux username.
n2-48-39:~ markboady$ ssh -X mwb33@tux.cs.drexel.edu
mwb33@tux.cs.drexel.edu's password:
Last login: Mon Sep 22 14:35:54 2014 from nc-112-36.dhcp.drexel.edu
mwb33@tux64-13:~$ acl2s-eclipse
Windows Machines have ssh and secure shell client already installed and ready to go. All you need to do is open a new connection to tux using the secure shell client and type eclipse.
Linux Machines can be used following the above instructions for linux. The local installs of acl2s-eclipse do not have ACL2s, so you need to remote connect from the lab computer to tux.
