  • Academic Integrity Committee: Academic Integrity lesson pilot was successfully incorporated into the CI101 material.
  • Freshman Core: Piloted a version of CS150 that covered the same Python topics as CS171 with labs that allowed students to choose to apply programming knowledge to different domains. The domains chosen were based on student majors as reported by students in a week 1 survey.

    Implemented Ac Int lesson in CI102 as pilot. Worked on plan for culture change regarding academic honesty for incoming students.
  • Freshman Core: Update. Piloted a version of CS150 that covered the same Python topics as CS171 with labs that allowed students to choose to apply programming knowledge to different domains. The domains chosen were based on student majors as reported by students in a week 1 survey.
    Organizing critical content for intro programming courses for majors and non-majors.

  • Freshman Core: Continuing to work on the documentation of core curricula for students.
  • Gaming Concentration Committee: Update and revise as needed the courses offered by CCI for the Gaming Concentration.

2019/2020 - UG Curriculum Committee - Freshman Core & Pedagogy: Worked with David Augenblick on the roadmap for core courses.

2018/2019 - UG Curriculum Committee - Freshmman Subcommittee (Chair): Reviewed course changes for freshman courses. Determined that the variance in programming experience and expertise of our freshmen could be better managed if we had a placement test. We explored placement test options and began to develop one in Blackboard.

2021/2022 - DEI Council, DEI Workgroups, DEI Recruiting - Work with faculty and staff to change the culture of the college to be more inclusive and aware of diversity in our community. Work with Recruiting team to establish relationships with area high schools that send students to Drexel, that have diverse student populations.

2021/2022 - Mentoring new faculty

2021/2022 - CCI Digital Development Camp - Expand the camp offerings into three tracks, adding a Data Science track this year.

2020/2021 - CCI Digital Development Camp - Expand the camp offerings into two tracks, FullStack web dev and Cybersecurity. Seek funding for all students to receive a scholarship.

Summer of 2020 - CCI Digital Development Summer Camp - I worked with David Raiken and Marie Fazio on bringing this two-week online camp from and idea to completion in a very short amount of time! I set the curriculum and helped to set the campers schedule. I based it loosely off of the CI102 course but limited the projects to web sites. I brought in fellow professors as guest speakers each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. CCI students served as counselors and ran workshops on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Tableau, and Python.

2019/Present - Collaboration with School of Education on Degrees leading to CS Certification: Worked with team members from the school of ed to put together several degrees that will lead to PA Teacher Certification in CS. Developed a new Methods course for CS in collaboration with Valerie Klein. Worked with David Appleton to develop the sample course guide including all required courses and information on electives in addition to a document to guide advisors. This work is ongoing.

  • Teacher Prep Programs - worked with a team of volunteers to develop the criteria for a college or university to gain state approval for their CS Teacher preparation programs.
  • Teacher Certification - first new certification in several decades. Teachers in PA can now earn a CS Certification by passing the Praxis exam for Computer Science. This certification is for teachers of grades 7-12.
  • Student Standards - PA adopted the CSTA K-12 Standards
In addition, I do consulting work for PAttan to provide professional development for secondary teachers who want to add the CS certification.
